Babe Ruth Sterling Silver Rollerball

“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.”

Honorable words from a man who not only never gave up, he went above and beyond to succeed like no other sports figure in the history of baseball. George Herman Ruth Jr., better known as “Babe”, had such a talent for the game that his teammate Joe Dugan once said, “To understand him you had to understand this: he wasn’t human.” Babe Ruth went on to become a legend of the game, playing seven seasons with the Boston Red Sox and fifteen with the New York Yankees. He created such a fan craze in New York that the new Yankee Stadium was appropriately called “the house that Ruth built”. Babe became known not only for the powerful accuracy of his swing and his incredible home runs, but also his overall talent for the game and his versatility as an all-around player. Bill Dickey, a former teammate, once said, “He hits the ball harder and further than any man I ever saw.” Babe Ruth wasn’t just a ball player, he was an international star, a worldwide celebrity, the likes of which baseball has never seen since.
